Recently, Weichai launched the automobile engine WP17 with the largest displacement of V8, at its 2017 Market Technology Matchmaking Fair.

WP17 engine leverages currently mainstream technologies of high-pressure common-rail, direct injection, turbocharged and intercooled, SCR post-processing, etc, with 127mm bore, 165mm stroke, 16.72L displacement, 515kW rated output, capable of 3000N.m torque output at 1200-1500 rpm, to meet theEuropean Emission Standard Ⅵ.

The assembly target of this high-end engine is large engineering vehicles or equipments, such as truck crane, crawler crane, special vehicle, mine car, bulldozer, etc.

In view of the appearance, Weichai WP17 engine makes use of the V8 structure, with double turbo-charging system, as well as engineering oil sump of higher structural strength, adaptable to the harsh and severe working environment of engineering vehicles.

Weichai WP17 engine is equipped with a replaceable filter element type of filter unit. This design greatly reduces the engine maintenance cost, facilitates replacement operation, and complies with the environment of using construction engine.

The double turbo-charging system shares an air intake, the pressurized air is supplied to the cylinder on both sides respectively, and the exhaust gas discharged on each side only drives the turbocharger on that side, ensuring great independence. In case of default at one side, it will not cause collapse of the entire system, with higher redundancy.

Due tohigh power consumption of large engineering vehicles, this type of engine adopts a dual generator system, to meet the demand for higher power consumption; the mutually backup dual generator also indirectly reinforces reliability of the system, and decreases the vehicle breakdown phenomenon caused by generator failure.

Asconstruction engine, PTO interface is essential, which can be used to drive hydraulic pump and other equipment with power demands.

A double-cylinder air compressor with 630ml displacement is equipped at the back of WP17 engine, to meet huge demand of large engineering vehicles for compressed air.

Weichai is currently one of a few domestic combustion engine manufacturers with independent R&D, and thereby, the WP17 engine is equipped with ECU product of its own.

In addition, the WP17 engine is installed with Weichai's Super Power engine braking system, maximum braking output of up to 320kW, to provide a safer driving assurance for HD engineering vehicles, under common conditions of extreme descending road in the mining areas.
